EASY WELLNESS SNACK: FRESH SPRING ROLLS
HERE YOU HAVE IT FOLKS, a wellness chez vous favorite. we present a 5 minute snack made with nothing but real, whole foods. i encourage you the next time you’re in a snacky mood to take the extra few minutes to recreate this instead of reaching for a bag or box of something processed.
these are so versatile and customizable to your taste buds i really believe it’s impossible to not like them; as always feel free to take this idea and really make it your own, playing around with different ingredients and flavors.
THE DOWN LOW //
i change up the ingredients that i use in these spring rolls depending on how much time i have to work with and what i have on hand. down below you’ll find the ingredients for my favorite and quickest combo as well as some recommendations for ingredients you could play around with if you have the time.
INGREDIENTS //
◡ cucumber, thinly sliced
◡ carrots, peeled
◡ bell peppers, thinly sliced
◡ red onion, thinly sliced
◡ avocado
◡ fresh dill
◡ fresh cilantro
◡ coconut aminos
◡ seaweed sheets, cut into small rectangles
◡ spring roll wrappers, these are the ones that i opt for, I find them at whole foods
◡ optional ingredients // you could consider adding in a protein such as shrimp, tofu, chicken, or eggs. some other options could consist of lettuce, purple cabbage, bok choy, fresh mint, fresh basil, vermicelli rice noodles, etc.
DIRECTIONS //
begin by preparing your ingredients, making sure they are uniform in shape/size so that wrapping the roll won’t be difficult.
after your ingredients are prepped, prepare the spring roll wrapper according to the package. this should only take 10-15 seconds so save this for last.
lay out your spring roll wrapper, one at a time, then layer your ingredients in the center of the wrapper. i like to layer in a way that with each bite i get a taste of everything. once everything is layered up i drizzle with coconut aminos to seal in some additional flavor.
to finish you’ll fold the sides inward over the ingredients. then tightly, but gently, pull the side closest to you up and over the ingredients, sealing everything in, and continuing to roll until the wrapper is fully sealed onto itself. repeat the filling and folding process as necessary.
these are great as is or you could pair with a sauce. i personally enjoy mixing tamari(a gluten-free soy sauce alternative) with sesame oil for some extra dipping goodness! all in all get creative, and enjoy! :)
